Ciliophrys im Sonnentierchen-Zustand hat in der Regel ein Flagellum und zahlreiche Axopodien. Diese Zelle ist bei der Teilung, sie hat die Geißel bereits dupliziert. Die Art wurde auch als Ciliophrys marina beschrieben. Der Messbalken markiert eine Länge von 25 µm.
