Diplosigopsis spec. Diplosigopsis is a tiny Choanoflagellate with a lorica which is mounted without stalk on the substratum. Gradually the lorica becomes opaque due to stocked iron or manganese compounds. The images shows cells which are at most 3 days old. The multi layer image shows the collar (arrowhead), the lorica (double arrowhead), and a optical cross section through the lorica showing the protoplast (arrow). The scale bar indicates 10 µm.
This multi layer image was built up using 3 frames with a manual stacking technique.
The specimen was gathered in the wetlands of national park Unteres Odertal (100 km north east of Berlin). Epibiont on a slide glass which was placed in water for 3 days. Images were taken using Zeiss Universal with Olympus C7070 CCD camera.

Diplosigopsis ist ein winziger Choanoflagellat mit einer Lorica, die ohne Stiel am Substrat befestigt ist. Allmählich wird die Lorica durch Einlagerung von Eisen- und Mangan-Verbindungen undurchsichtig. Das Bild zeigt Zellen, die höchstens drei Tage alt sind. Die Multiebenenabbildung zeigt den Kragen (Pfeilspitze), die Lorica (Doppelpfeil) und einen optischen Querschnitt durch die Lorica, wo der Protoplast sichtbar wird (Pfeil). Tiefenschärfe durch Multiebenenabbildung aus 5 Bildebenen, manuell gestapelt. Der Messbalken markiert eine Länge von 10 µm.
Die Probe wurde in den Feuchtgebieten des Nationalpark Unteres Odertal (100 km nordöstlich von Berlin) gesammelt. Es wurden Objektträger in einem Halter drei Tage ins Wasser gehängt. Mikrotechnik: Zeiss Universal, Kamera: Olympus C7070.
