Closterium striolatum

This desmid is characterized by ribbed structure of cell wall, especially at the terminal calottes. Over 20 pictures were taken using 63/1.4 objective and DIC and were combine manually (stitching and stacking). The picture shows precisely the surface structure of Closterium striolatum, i. e. the longitudinal and transversal stripes. Each of the latter indicates a vegetative cell division, 11 divisions in this case. The scale bar indicates 25 µm.
