Die Schale besteht hauptsächlich aus Idiosomen (selbst erzeugte kieselsäurehaltige, wurstförmige Teilchen). Einige Xenosomen (Fremdkörper, meist aus Quarz) sind auch zu sehen. Alle Xenosomen werden von den Lesquereusiiden mit einer Kieselschicht bedeckt. Der Messbalken markiert eine Länge von 50 µm.
