Planotaenium interruptum (Brébisson ex Ralfs) Petlovany & Palamar-Mordvintseva 2009

Most likely ID: n.a.

Basionym: Penium interruptum Brébisson ex Ralfs 1848

Add’l Synonyms: Netrium interruptum (Brébisson ex Ralfs) Lütkemüller 1902

Referring to Gontcharov and Melkonian (2010), Planotaenium forms a clade apart to that of Netrium.
Quote: “Using three molecular markers from two genomes (nuclear-encoded SSU rDNA, and chloroplast-encoded rbcL and LSU rDNA) the relationships between these lineages were fully resolved: the genera Nucleotaenium and Netrium s. str. are sisters, whereas the genus Planotaenium has only distant relationships to the NucleotaeniumNetrium clade.”
