Two images.

First:This highly contractile marine ciliate has ventral cirri in oblique and marginal rows as well as three dorsal rows of cilia. This makes it a hypotrichous ciliate. The image of the adoral zone of membranelles (inset, enlarged image top left) clearly shows that the membranelles consist of cilia.
There are also very special dorsal cilia (visible as a lateral row), each of which arises from a cortical papilla (inset, enlarged image bottom right).
Second:Another overall view of this ciliate. In the inset, enlarged image on the top left, you can see the entire adoral zone of membranelles, and the special dorsal cilia with their cortical papillae are also visible.
