Aphanizomenon spec.

The cyanobacteria genus Aphanizomenon is well known as an ingredient of health food providing lots of vitamins and trace elements But some strains are toxic.
 
Collected from littoral region (reed belt by Phragmites) of a rain storage reservoir in Kiel (Schleswig-Holstein, Germany). This image was taken using Zeiss Universal with Olympus C7070 CCD camera.

Die Cyanobakterien der Gattung Aphanizomenon ist auch als Bestandteil von Nahrungsergänzungsmitteln bekannt und enthalten viele Vitamine und Spurenelemente. Es gibt allerdings auch giftige Stämme, die Anatoxine produzieren.
