Description: The cells are appr. two times longer than wide (L/W: 1.75–2) and rounded rectangular in shape. The lateral lobes are broad and rounded off flat concave. The vertex lobes are short and strongly broadened towards the flat recessed ends. They are separated form the lateral lobes only by shallow cuts. The central cuts aren’t broadened towards the periphery. At the base of the cell halves there are three swellings with a big pore at their center.
Dimension: Length (125)–140–180–(260) µm, width (65)–75–90–(115) µm.
Occurrence: Probably ubiquitous. Acidophilic alga (pH 4–6.5), common in shallow sphagnum ponds.
