Sampling date 10/2007. Scale bars indicate 50 µm (1, 3, 4), 100 µm (2).

The surface texture of the test and the outline of the pseudostome collar of Netzelia tuberculata are (according to R. Meisterfeld, RWTH Aachen, Germany) very variable. Most of the agglutinated particles of the test (Shell) are silicious idiosoms, and all xenosomes are coated with silica by the mother organism.

The test of Netzelia tuberculata shows its raspberry-like structure which gave the name (tuberculata). Like all Lesquereusiidae, Netzelia builds its shell from self-produced silica particles (called idiosomes). A few xenosomes are also visible. All xenosomes are covered with a siliceous coating.
