Sampling date 10/2011. Scale bar indicates 50 µm.

This specimen has no spines, which is not uncommon.

Apertural view. The images were taken with an objective with a medium aperture (nA 0.65). The fine structure of the test (built-in frustulesof diatoms, proteinaceous pores of the matrix) is already visible.
