Second to forth:Optical cross sections through the cell showing the cytoplasm. It’s not filling the shell completely but is attached to its inner surface by cytoplasmic strands called epipodia.
Fifth:The large nucleus, which is circular in cross section, is situated in the fundus (posteriorly). It contains many nucleoli, which are also sphaerical.
Sixth:Zoom on the cell nucleus. Arrows point to the double-layered nuclear membrane.
