Most likely ID: n.a.
Basionym: n.a.
Add’l Synonyms: Difflugia pyriformis var. bacillifera Levander, 1895
Difflugia septentrionalis var. bacillifera Awerintzew, 1900
Sampling date 06/2025. Scale bars indicate 50 µm.
Three images. Whole test and two optical cross-sections.
The tubular shape of the neck, which is characteristic for this species, is masked by the attached diatom frustules and is only visible in the last cross-section.
In addition to diatom frustules, several round, brown xenosomes can be seen in the shell. These are fruiting bodies (uredospores) of rust fungi; they were very numerous in the local water.
