Basionym: Cosmarium ralfsii Brébisson ex Ralfs 1848
Add’l Synonyms: Pleurotaeniopsis ralfsii (Brébisson ex Ralfs) De Toni 1889
Dimension: Length 90–130 µm, width 80–100 µm.
Occurrence: Widely distributed among peat mosses in acidic peat bog waters, sometimes in large numbers.
