Dimension: Length (170)–210–290–(300) µm, width (145)–180–260–(280) µm, L/W (1.03)–1.1–1.2–(1.25).
Occurrence: Common in marsh areas and forest ponds both in lowlands and in alpine regions, considerably more frequent than the type variety of species Micrasterias thomasiana.
