Note: Coesel synonymizes St. johnsonii and St. bicorne.
Description: The cells are bi-radially and have long horizontally standing out arms with 2 pricks at the each end. The center section is stretched, in the center swollen with shallow, continuous opened centralcuts and two rows of small warts on both sides. The vertex view is fusiform.
Dimension: Length 50–55 µm, width 80–85 µm.
Occurrence: Widely spread in northern areas (Alaska, Michigan, Labrador, Ontario, arctic waters).
