Sampling date 10/2009. Scale bars indicate 25 µm (1), 50 µm (2-5).

Five images, four of them in the slide changer.

First and second:Licmophora juergensii together with Cocconeis scutellum and Pseudanabaena spec. as epibionts on the red alga Polysiphonia fibrillosa.
Third:On the left, a Licmophora cell can be seen in the lateral (valvar) view, on the right we look at the girdleband (cingulim) of the cell, hence it is also called the “cingulare view”.
Fourth:Cells in valvar (left) and cingular (right) view.
Fifth:At the bottom left we see an abandoned stalk. Some of the Licmophora cells were detached from their stalks by preparation. To the right of the abandoned stalk is such a cell, which is now fixed to a sister cell with some jelly.
