First:Synoptic representation of the surface of the frustule. Some segment boundaries of the girdlebands are visable.
Second:Optical cross-section showing nucleus.
Third:Detail: Valve with processes. The optical cross-section through the spear-shaped elongated structures shows the secretory pathways.
